New Zealand $5 Won the Bank Note of the Year Award

A 100 UAH (Ukraine) and 100 RUR (Russia) bank notes were also shortlisted.

The jury of the annual contest held by the International Bank Note Society (IBNS) awarded the Bank Note of the Year title to a $5 bank note from New Zealand, Mashable writes. The contest was open for the money that got redesigned in 2015.

“We are proud of all of New Zealand’s new banknotes, but to have our $5 note recognised internationally is very special, — The Reserve Bank of New Zealand Deputy Governor Geoff Bascand said.

A total of 19 applications were included in the shortlist, among them a 100 UAH note and 100 RUR note.
