The US National Archives Posts a Collection of Historical GIFs

The institution created the official channel on Giphy.

The US National Archives launched their channel on Giphy and have already posted about 200 historical GIFs there, Open Culture writes. According to a representative of the institution, they are hoping to make history more popular among Internet users and draw attention to their collection.

The posted GIFs feature Ernest Hemingway drinking alcohol, The Beatles during their visit to New York in 1964, or fragments of popular TV shows of the previous century.

There is a link to the website of the National Archives near each GIF, where users can view the full video and read about it.
