Designers Create Graphic Logos for Hong Kong Protests
“Umbrella Revolution” receives its first graphic symbols.
The umbrella became a symbol of the Hong Kong protest after thousands of protesters appeared with umbrellas to protect themselves from pepper spray used by riot police. The movement was named “Umbrella Revolution”. The first graphic designs begun spreading on social media networks.
"That act of defiance reminded me of the Tiananmen Square 1989 'Tank Man', and I felt that the umbrella and the defiant pose was very symbolic and iconic in the same way tank man was," said one of the designers, Angelo Costadimas, to the South China Morning. Angelo is Hong Kong-based artist, filmmaker and educator.
