Instagram of the Day: Classic Paintings in the Streets

Julien de Casabianca and his followers bring famous paintings to the streets.

French artist Julien Casabianca published on Instagram photos of the project Outings, which encourages people from all over the world to bring copies of famous paintings to the streets.

The project started when Casabianca, inspired by Ingres’ painting, took a photo with his phone, printed it out and stuck it on the wall of a house. After that he created a website and encouraged people to spread the idea internationally. Casabianca created detailed instructions on how to take photos, print out the paintings, and how to place them in urban environment. There is a map, available on the website with markings on places idea has been supported, namely Rio-de-Janeiro, Riga, Frankfurt, London, Dallas, New York, Warszawa, Barcelona, and New Orleans.

Anonymous people moved from museums paintings to the streets. A world participative street art project. www.outings-project.org
