Storyboards of the First Movie by Coen Brothers Compared to the Final Version of the Movie
The filmmakers explained why authors need to visualize every scene from their future movie before they start shooting.
Criterion Collection, an NYC-based company that distributes movies, released a comparison of storyboards for Blood Simple, the debut work by Coen brothers, and the final cinema version of the movie.
A five-minute video is accompanied by comments of the filmmakers who explain why it is so important to think all the scenes through in advance, when preparing for the shoot.
“There are plenty of people who [improvise], and they do it really well,” the brothers say. “We are kind of the other end of the spectrum, we are more comfortable if we have a plan, even if we go quite a distance from that plan.”
