Photographer Captures Paracetamol Tablets under the Microscope

German photographer Peter Juzak takes photographs of various drugs and substances such as vitamin C, benzoic acid, or paracetamol under the microscope.

Juzak took up microphotography in 1979, and started taking photographs of paracetamol four years ago. To create the images, he grinds the tablet, places the powder on a slide and heats it to start crystallization. It takes Juzak anywhere between several hours and several weeks to prepare material for the shoot.

After crystallization is complete, the photographer places the slide under polarizing microscope Jenalab with a Sony Alpha 7 camera. He takes hundreds of photographs of each preparation scaled 120:1. Juzak’s other works are available here.
