Australian Instagramers are Fond of Quokka
Australian tourists have been posting Instagram and Twitter selfies with quokkas – a macropod, which lives in the Western part of the country. Images with hashtag #quokkaselfie feature visitors on Rottnest Island with a marsupial, which the Australian Museum describes as “a kind of rat as big as a common cat.”

It’s not a first appearance of quokka in global media – in 2013 the Huffington Post published an article, naming the small wallaby “the happiest animal in the world.”
