Designer Draws Emoticons for Introverts

After a boyfriend of the artist Rebecca Lynch broke up with her saying that he needed more private space, she decided to create an icon collection which may help introverts express their feelings.

In the Introji series (similar to an Emoji collection) she drew pictograms featuring emotions typical for self-sufficient people: leaving a party, refusing to meet someone, asking to keep quiet, reading, thinking and working at a computer.

“As an introvert, I’ve experienced plenty of moments where I feel the lack of a simple way to express a need for aloneness—or conversely, a need for quiet company in a way that won’t be misunderstood. On the other hand, I want to be able express to others that I understood their need for space, while letting them know that I’d be there when they needed me,” says Lynch.

So far, the Introji series is still under development. Lynch is planning to add more icons about relationship of two introverts and she welcomes new ideas about the pictograms.
