FOTODOC created an international contest for the documentary projects about social issues.

FOTODOC Centre for Documentary Photography at Sakharov Centre (Russia) opened a call for submissions for the Direct Look Contest. The goal of the competition is to raise awareness about societal issues. The jury will evaluate the photos in three categories: 1. “The Problem”: disagreements that arise within the society; 2. “The Conflict”: the most heated methods of solving these issues; 3. “The Compromise”: conflict resolution through dialogue, social change or reform.

The contest is open in Russia for the first time. To participate, the photographer needs to send from 5 to 11 photos with captions from a series made between 2012 and 2015. The name of the winner will be announced in September 2015.
