NASA Showed the Expansion of Urban Agglomeration in China

The images show the growth of urban population in Pearl River Delta between 1988 and 2014.

US National Space Administration posted satellite images of China’s Pearl River Delta (Zhu San Jiao) that show how the number of urban settlements in China grew in the recent years.

It is reported that the first image was acquired on 24 November 1988 by Thematic Mapper; and the second image was acquired by Operational Land Imager on 16 November 2014.

Cities Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, and Dongguan are located in the Pearl RIver Delta.

NASA professionals say that this is now world’s largest urban area, both by size and by population.
