NatGeo Hosts Photo Camp for Displaced Ukrainian Residents

Experienced journalists will assist displaced Ukrainians to create photo stories about their life in new place.

National Geographic Youth Photo camp will be held from July 5th to 10th in Kharkov. The goal is to train young photographers to create emotional photo stories about the lives of displaced residents. The organizers have invited 20 Ukrainian participants between 18 and 30 years old who have been resettled from Crimea or Donbass and currently live in Kharkov, Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozh’e or Dnepropetrovsk oblasts. To become a participant it is not necessary to be an experienced photographer – it is enough to understand how the camera works, be fond of photography and be interested in covering stories.

At the end of the six-day training, the participants will make a multimedia presentation of their projects. The best photo stories will be compiled in an exhibition that will be presented throughout Ukraine in the fall.

The photo camp will be organized with the support of the USAID project “Ukrainian Initiative on Strengthening the Level of Civil Credence,” Institute of the Regional Press and Vision Workshops.
