New York Times App is Free

The New York Times reports, that the new version NYT Now will now be available for free.

Initially, the app was an alternative version of The New York Times with a subscription fee of $8 a month. Now it’s free and uses an ad-supported model to reach a broader audience of smartphone readers. In January 2015, the executive editor Dean Baquet explained, “NYT Now was not a financial breakthrough, but it taught us how to “be more visual, and talk to readers in a different, less formal way, and still be The New York Times.”

The new version of NYT has articles from the Times newsfeed and other sources. Available only for iOS.
