Photo book about modern art festival Burning Man hits stores

A book titled “Burning Man: Art on Fire” by Jennifer Raiser showcases the official collection of 170 photographs taken at the festival through the years, as well as extended interviews with creative burners. The authors of the photography were Scott London and Sidney Erthal, texts were written by Larry Harvey (introduction), Leo Villareal (afterword), and Will Chase (foreword). The 208-page hardcover is available on Amazon, and priced at $26,27. According to Shutterbug, the book serves as a tour guide in exploring the festival, checking out the installations and other art pieces, and getting fully immersed into the atmosphere of the event.

Note: Burning Man is an annual event that occurs in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert starting on the last Monday of August. The participants, who call themselves “burners”, create art objects within predetermined theme. The attendees depart 8 days later, leaving no trace, therefore some installations are burned before the festival ends. Traditionally, on the last day of the gathering a giant wooden sculpture of a man is set on fire, that’s how the name “Burning Man” evolved.
