Photographer Makes Food Glow from Inside

Photographer Radu Zaciu published the results of his gastronomical experiment in his blog – 16 images featuring fruits and vegetables with light coming from inside, writes Petapixel.

The idea to create the project “The Light Inside” was incubated when Zaciu learned that the German word for light bulb is “gluehbirne,” which literally means “glowing pear.” To make a pear glow, he drilled a hole in the fruit and placed a light bulb inside. Then he shot it in complete darkness using exposure times of more than 10 seconds.

Zaciu was so pleased with the results that he decided to try the same method with other fruits and vegetables. He captured cabbages, strawberries, melons, pineapples and potatos, carefully selecting the size and voltage of the light bulbs for each object.
