Neural Networks Learned to Style Photographs as Paintings

The algorithm turns regular photographs into imitations of Edvard Munch's and Pablo Picasso's paintings.

Scientists from Tuebingen University (Germany) managed to create an algorithm that can turn any photograph into an image that imitates the style of famous painters. A corresponding study called “A Neural Algorithm of Artistic Style” was published on Cornell University Library website on August, 26.

“The system uses neural representations to separate and recombine content and style of arbitrary images, providing a neural algorithm for the creation of artistic images.” — the study says.

Mashable reports, that the algorithm can turn regular photographs into imitations of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch and Pablo Picasso.
