Wear Every Day for Two Hours: An Attempt to Become Beautiful
Photographer Arseniy Neskhodimov stumbled on a nose-slimming pin in the online shop. He remembered his childhood complexes and ordered it — and later created an entire series about weird beauty devices.
If you google “how to become more beautiful” in Russian, you will get over four million results. The Internet is full of advice on how to lose weight by summer, get rid of a double chin, or change lip shape without leaving the house. The world market of cosmetics (together with care products) is over half a billion dollars, and for cosmetic procedures (including surgical procedures such as nose or eyelid jobs) — 27 billion dollars.
Photographer Arseniy Neskhodimov also tried to become more beautiful with the help of products from AliExpress.

— I started taking photographs for the Body Care project about rejuvenating means and cosmetic products in 2018, and I still continue to do it. As a result, I have a collection of absolutely useless things that promise eternal youth and beauty.
By the time I was twelve, I started thinking that my nose was too big, and at eighteen I was saving money to get surgery. I had no idea how much I needed, there was almost no Internet at the time. However, I was convinced it was an unimaginable amount that I would never be able to save.
Now, at thirty-seven, I no longer care about my nose. I simply forgot about it. However, one time when I was shopping in a Chinese online shop, I saw nose-slimming pins, the ones I could only dream about when I was little.
At eighteen I was saving money for plastic surgery.
I am sure that such devices are no good, but after I bought one pin, I bought several more. This was how the collection of things that were supposed to make me younger and more handsome started.
In reality, wearing face shape changing masks and nose-slimming pins turned out to be a real torture, and I didn’t notice any considerable changes in my appearance. There is no proof that lifting masks or correcting devices really work. They promise the result from their use only if you regularly use them for several years or even for your entire life.
