Two Canadians Discovered They Were Switched at Birth 41 Years Later
After 41 years, Leon Swanson and David Tait Jr. from Manitoba province in Canada discovered they lived in each other’s families their entire lives, The Telegraph writes. A DNA test shows that the babies who were three days apart were just switched in the hospital.
Mr Tait said he felt distraught and angry. “I want answers so bad. It’s going to affect us one way or the other, I know that. It’s going to be a long journey,” he said. He added he will always consider people who raised him to be his parents, but will now have one more Mom and Dad, and a brother.
The switch happened in 1975 in Norway House Indian hospital. Last year, it was revealed that two other newborns were switched at the same hospital. That was when Tait and Swanson also decided to take a DNA test.
Jane Philpott, Canada’s federal health minister, promised to hold an independent investigation to find out whether any other babies were switched at this hospital.
