Carey Fruth Documents 14 Types of American Beauty
San Francisco based photographer Carey Fruth published the photo series “American Beauty.” It features 14 women lying naked in a bed of lilacs. The artist manifests the idea that female beauty does not depend on age, body or skin color, writes The Huffington Post.
Fruth told The Huffington Post that the series was inspired by the film "American Beauty" (1999). One of the scenes features naked school girl lying on rose petals. The scene reflects a quintessential male fantasy. “Almost every image you see in mainstream media is of one type of woman, thin white women to be specific. But that is not actually what the majority of women in our country look like,” commented Fruth.
With the help of her photo series, Fruth tries to help women to feel beautiful regardless of stereotypes.
