Columbian Photographer Publishes Book On Male Flamenco Dancers
This month, Colombian photographer Ruven Afanador will present his second book on flamenco dancers – the first one 1000 Kisses featured women who perform the famous Spanish dance.
The new edition The Man of Flamenco is devoted to research about the roles of men in flamenco, and contains 150 black-and-white portraits, which were shot on a abandoned farm not far from Seville. “If the women of flamenco introduced me to a lush vision of womanhood—reckless, unafraid, remorseless–it was the men of flamenco who took me into the surreal milieu populated by primal archetypes of fierce egos,” the author writes in the introduction of the book.
