Elton John is Named One of the World’s Most Influential Photography Collectors
Artnet.com compiled ratings on the world’s most influential photography collectors. The list includes Elton John, who began collecting photos back in the early ‘90s. According to Artnet.com his collection includes works of Brancusi, Ansel Adams, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Edward Steichen, and others. He is also a fan of the Ukrainian photographer Arsen Savadov. According to the photographer, Elton John owns about eight of the Savadov’s photos.
In 2004, over 70 photos from the musician’s collection were sold at a Christie’s auction.
The list of the world’s most influential photography collectors includes: Arthur Walther, Sondra Gilman and Celso Gonzalez-Falla, David Dechman, Andrew Pilara, Daniel Greenberg and Susan Steinhauser, John and Lisa Pritzker, Michael Wilson, Bob and Randi Fisher, Peter Cohen, Richard and Ellen Sandor, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
