Nikon introduces a water repellant lens coating
Thanks to the new technology, the lens surface will be protected from water, dust particles and oily residue

Nikon started using fluorine-containing polymers in manufacturing of the protective coating for lens in its cameras. The fluorine film has numerous advantages over other substances – it repels dust, water, grease and even permanent marker.
According to PopPhoto, unlike other manufacturers’ similar protective coating, fluorine film delivers higher durability and its anti-reflective effect contributes to the improved quality of images. The new product is already being applied to the Nikon’s AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR and F-S Teleconverter TC-14E III.
