80,000 Historical Documents are Uploaded to the Internet
Stock shop Pound5 launched the Public Domain Project, a collection of photo, audio, and video files which are not subject to copyrights, and are available for free downloading. Developers mentioned that the archive will help musicians, designers, film directors and other users with projects.
The collection, which has several file type categories, contains 65,000 photos, 10,000 videos, 3,000 audio files, and 121 3D models. Almost all the files have historical value and document important events of the 20th century. For example, the collection has an video of the funeral of a War of 1812 veteran, a video of the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, the “A Trip to the Moon” film by George Melies (1902), audio recordings of music by Beethoven and Сhopin, speeches of Winston Churchill and countless photos of historical events.
Also in the archives, Pound5 included a video explaining the documents and why they appeared under the category of public domain, and how they can be used in the creative projects.
