Body Artist Shot a Project About the Invisible Tourist
American body artist presented a project “Lost in Wonder“, where she investigated how the Western tradition influences tourists. For this, she photographed a man in front of every one of the Seven Wonders, whose body was pained so that he would completerly blend into the background, PetaPixel reports.
The idea of the project is that the Invisible Man symbolizes the depersonalization of modern tourism. Merry claims she has many times noticed the tourists were disappointed after they saw a landmark. She thinks this happens because they idealize their future vacation and go to popular places, without asking themselves why those places are considered great, and then feel nothing when they see them. The author thinks they make all the trip only for a selfie with the pyramid or the Great Wall of China in the background, and not for the experience itself.
