France Introduces Fines for Photoshopping Fashion Photographs

The authorities decided to fight 'unrealistic body images'.

According to the new French law, developed to “combat anorexia in fashion modeling and unrealistic body images in fashion photography”, authors of photoshopped images may be fined, PetaPixel writes.

The fine for publishing a photoshopped advertisement photo without labeling the changes is €37,500 or 30% of the advertisement budget.

In addition, to receive a work permit every model in France will undergo a health check. Modeling agencies who will hire girls without permits will pay a fine of up to €75,000, and their heads may be jailed for 6 months.
