Hitler’s Watercolor Sell For Record Price
The price of the painting, entitled “Civil Registry Office and Old Town Hall of Munich,” presented on the Saturday’s event at Nuremberg’s Weidler auction house, was expected to be about $60,000.00, but because it had an original bill of sale and a signed letter from Fuehrer’s adjutant Albert Bormann, the painting sold for $161,000, reports The Telegraph with the reference to Reuters.
Specialists say that is it one of about 2,000 works that Adolf Hitler painted in the beginning of the last century in Vienna while he was planning to became an artist. The watercolor belonged to two sisters, whose father bought the painting in 1916. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to a charity.
