Image with Tips of Wings Wins Australian Photo Contest ANZANG

On July 31st, the results of the Australian Geographic ANZANG (Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea) Nature Photographer of the Year competition has been announced. The main prize was awarded to David Stowe for the photo “Feathers Symmetry.” He captured a white-winged tern ready to fly and cropped the image to show only the wings.

“I simply cropped the image fairly tightly to focus on the wonderful symmetry and graphic simplicity of the feather structure against the blue of the lake,” writes Stowe. As the winner, Stowe was awarded a $10,000 prize and a trip for two aboard Heritage Expeditions’ Papua New Guinea Explorer wrote Australian Geographic.

The competition was conducted for the 12th time. It was organized by the South Australian Museum and showcases the unique flora, fauna and landscapes of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea.
