Infographic of the Day: The Status of Men and Women in Different Countries
Metric, an Australian studio that specializes in the visualization of data, developed an infographic, Close the Gap, about the difference in status of men and women in 177 countries around the world that includes information about income levels, secondary education participation, labor force participation, and parliamentary participation between 1990 and 2015.
Viewers can sort the graphs by size of the gap between men and women in each country or select to view the countries with the biggest values in each category.
The graphs provided by Close the Gap inform, for instance, that only about 1% women and 3% men in Burkina Faso have received secondary education, while in Luxembourg, Canada, and Estonia this percentage is 100%.
The authors say they used UN and World Bank data when creating Close the Gap.
