Spanish Hunting Dogs Featured in a Photobook

In a single week British photographer Martin Usborne raised £10,000 to publish a photographic book about Spanish hunting dogs.

Usborne wants to attract attention to Galgo dogs in Spain. Each year more than 30,000 hunting dogs are abandoned or killed if they considered too slow to win the competitions. The photographer plans to donate part of the revenues from the sales to the Galgo’s rescue centers.

“I have made a point of not looking directly at the suffering – it is fairly easy to take pictures of brutality. But I also don’t want to take cutesy pictures of dogs looking happy. I wanted to show the majesty without denying the misery,” stated the photographer.
