Mount Etna was Shot for Google Street View

Google's digital photography team went to Sicily to shoot the beauty of the active volcano.

Last week, Google’s specialists opened a new location for the virtual walks – Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Etna covers an area of 1,250 km2 and it’s currently 3,329 m above sea level, though this varies with summit eruptions.

Also Google Cultural Institute created an on-line exhibition devoted to Etna’s history and explanations about how volcanic activity influenced the development of the nearby areas.

Both events are celebrating the second anniversary of Etna being added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
