New Zealand Chose 4 Versions of the New Flag

The winner will be defined by a national referendum.

A semi-final stage of the selection of the new national flag ended in New Zealand, Mashable reports. On Tuesday, September 1, the government released the final shortlist of four possible versions.

It is reported that the winner will be determined at a two-stage national referendum. The citizens of New Zealand will be allowed to choose the best version of the four between October 20 and November 11, and to choose between the new version and the existing national flag in March 2016.

At the previous stage of selection a longlist of 40 versions of the new state flag was chosen from over 10,000 submissions.
