Oregon Makes it Illegal to Take Photos of Private Areas Without Permission

The step was taken by State Senate after a man took pictures up the skirt of a 13-year-old girl.

Oregon’s state senate advanced a bill making it illegal to take photo of a person’s private areas without his or her permission, writes New York Magazine. The changes in the legislation were set into motion when a 61-year-old man took pictures under the skirt of a 13-year-old girl at a Target. The man got away scot-free because the teenager was dressed and the law permits photos of people in public places.

Similar changes in legislation were adopted in several states, namely New York, Massachusetts, Virginia and Hawaii.
