Photographer Shot 24 Sunsets in 8 Hours

‘Chasing Horizons’ is a joint commercial project of the Citizen Company and photographer Simon Roberts, who had an idea to capture the sunset in all 24 time zones in one day. To chase the horizons the photographer, with ex-NATO pilot Jonathan Nicole, went on an eight hour flight beyond the Arctic Circle. It was calculated that chasing the sunset around the globe would only be possible at the exact latitude of 80 degrees – the point at which the Earth rotates at its slowest speed and only at the end of February before the Polar Days of March. The team was following the calculated flight route, and photographer snapped his photos between 18:20 and 19:00 in every time zone.

The project was developed by the Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo agency as a commercial of the new Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100 able to connect to the GPS satellite to adjust to the current time zone.
