Terrorist’s Selfie Helps to Destroy ISIS Headquarters

US Air Force was able to define the target by a photo in social media.

On Tuesday, in Washington, USA Air Force General Hawk Carlisle, head of Air Combat Command, reported that airmen at Hurlburt Field, Florida with the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group were able to identify and destroy an Islamic State in Iraq and Syria headquarters building. Surprisingly, a selfie of one of the terrorists helped locate the target. A gunman took a photo of himself with the background of an ISIS building, and posted it online with a caption. Just 22 hours after the image was published, the US Air Force bombed the target.

Carlisle mentioned that active use of social media by ISIS to recruit and spread propaganda played a bad joke on them. It’s interesting because he himself shared a photo of the US fighting terrorism tactics – monitoring of the social media.
