US Museum Bans Selfie Sticks

Museums' administrations explain it by the risk to the visitors and art.

The Frick Collection in New York City announced on their website that selfie sticks are not permitted. The administration of the museum explained they had to ban the selfie sticks because of the potential threat to the safety of the visitors and art. It’s a precautionary measure as there has been no recorded incident of damaging art or injuring visitors with a selfie stick.

The Frick Collection is not the first to ban the sticks. Selfie sticks are already banned at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts; New York’s Museum of Modern Art; Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum; Beacon museum; California Exhibition centre; The Getty Museum; and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
