Video: First Film Shot with Moonlight
Director Sam Shapson shot a short thriller with no artificial light used.
American photographer and film director Sam Shapson uploaded a 7-minute film called “Refuge” that was shot at night with no artificial light. The director says that it is the first narrative film shot at night using only moonlight. The Sony A7s at ISO 51,200 was used to produce the footage.
“After concluding that we would bring no lights, we found that large bounce cards would be absolutely key. This allowed us to literally bounce moonlight to fill in the deep shadows cast on the talents faces,” said Shapson.
Warning: the film contains very strong language and violence.
