Video of the Day: HD Color Photos of Berlin in 1945

German designers colored archive video records of the capital city destroyed during WWII.

A German company, Chronos History, colorized a high resolution seven-minute video created from a film shot in July 1945 in Berlin. The video features Reichstag, the Brandenburg gate with Stalin’s portrait, Hotel Adlon Kempinski, and destroyed streets being cleared by residents. Almost 1.5 million people viewed the video in the first several days of it’s release.

Chronos History owns a big archive of WWII documents. Previously they published a colorized video about post war Potsdam and Hamburg.
