Link of the Day: 1,700 Artworks from the Collection of the Guggenheim Museum In Open Access
The Solomon Guggenheim Museum published the digitized versions of artworks from collections of its branch museums in New York City, Venice, and Bilbao. The archive includes about 1,700 works by 625 authors, MyModernMet writes.
Among other works, posted in open access are the paintings by Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Jackson Pollock, photographs by Cindy Sherman and Robert Mapplethorpe, and the sculptures of Ai Weiwei, Louise Bourgeois, and other artists. For the convenience of the viewers, the works can be sorted by the name of the author, the date of creation, or artistic direction.
The employees of the Museum have also posted the digitized versions of rare books about art from the collection on the Internet Archive website. There are currently over 200 books and catalogues in open access. Among them, publications about Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, and Roy Lichtenstein, collections dedicated to Russian and Soviet avant-garde art, and catalogues from exhibitions from different years.
