5 Resources That Inspire Lina Michal

26 years old Lina Michal, Fashion designer. Was born in Gothenburg (Sweden), now lives and works in New York. Collaborated with with Marc O’Polo and Mercedes-Benz Fashionweek, was awarded with the H&M grant for the Heathen Hearts collection. A winner of Muuse x Vogue Talents – Young Vision Award 2013. I discovered Dash Magazine the other week when they wanted to feature me as «Label of the day». It’s a magazine devoted to fashion and fashion art, with an emphasis on fashion illustartion. Twice a year they publish a printed magazine. I love the way the site is set up – it allows you to scroll and look through snippets of creative work. It feels like they understand how people search out information today: we just want a tease and then we can take it from there.

Feature Shoot is a website that showcases photographers of all kinds: travel photography, fashion photography, documentary photography, fine art photography et cetera. It’s great when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for but you just want to be inspired visually! My friend who works for a photography agency told me about it two years ago, I’m glad she did.

Everyone who is interested in fashion of course knows Show Studio, a site founded by legendary photographer Nick Knight in 2000. It’s been a pioneer in showcasing fashion film and they always collaborate with the most fascinating people in the industry. It’s a great place to see fashion in motion in very unexpected ways.

When you’ve finished looking through all the established fashion houses at Style.com I suggest you head over to Not Just A Label, a site devoted to showcasing pioneering designers and emerging talent. I love how user friendly it is, you just scroll the frontpage to discover interesting designers, editorials, articles and you can even shop on the sight. You can even find me on there! It’s a great little community!

Sometimes you just want to go online without a specific thing in mind. I while back I got an account at Stumble Upon, a site that picks out random sites on the internet. For example you select «Fine Arts» and click this little button that says «stumble» and it finds out sites you would never find on your own with that theme. It’s great when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for! There’s also a function where you can tune it, so it can figure out the types of things that are more relevant to you. It’s very addicting.
