December Photo Contests

$5,000 for an innovative photo project, contemporary art contest in Venice, $9,000 for the best documentary photography and other possibilities for December.

At the beginning of each month Bird in Flight updates you about photo contests for both professional photographers and photography lovers.

Deadline: December 7, 2016.
Entry fee: €50 for one project (up to 60 images or videos), €40 for each additional project.
Award: €6,000 for the best project, €2,000 for the project that influences or changes the community.

Contest of creative visual projects with an open theme. One project may consist of up to 60 images or videos, but will be evaluated based on the key visual and nine accompanying ones. The contest is curated by journalist and art consultant Irene Alison.

arteartprize

Deadline: December 14, 2016.
Entry fee: €55 for one image, €100 for two and €150 for three images. For participants under 25 – €50, €90 and €135 respectively.
Award: six prizes €7,000 each, participation in the exhibition in Venice.

Italian contest of contemporary art. To participate in the “Photography” category one has to upload a biography, up to three works and their description.

lensculture

Deadline: December 20, 2016.
Entry fee: $20 for one image, $60 for the photo series.
Award:$5,000, $3,000 and $1,500 for winners in the photo projects category; $3,000, $1,500 and $1,000 for winners in the single images category.

The eighth annual photography contest organized by LensCulture. Among the jury members – Editorial Director at British Journal of Photography Simon Bainbridge, curator and writer Charlotte Cotton and Director of Photography at The Washington Post Maryanne Golon. All participants who submit more than five images will receive a portfolio review written by one of the photo industry representatives.

Entry fee: from $15 to $75.
Award: a week-long trip to Bali, photo equipment, participation in workshops.

Entries are being accepted in 17 categories, including “Landscape”, “Architecture”, “Fashion Photography” and “Drones.”

No entry fee.
Award: $5,000 for the project implementation.

A grant for projects dealing with the “transformation of photography” with an emphasis on innovative approaches to publication and the distribution of photography. To participate one has to submit a project description, letter of motivation, implementation plan, CV, two reference letters and a budget. The prize of $5,000 can cover maximum 50% of the project’s expenses.

olympus

Deadline: January 10, 2017.
No entry fee.
Award: $9,000 for the category winners, photo equipment.

International contest organized by Olympus accepts entries in four categories: “Power of Life”, “Connections to Cherish”, “Places that Inspire” and “Perspectives Often Missed.” One participant can submit up to five images into each of them.

Deadline: January 12, 2017.
Entry fee: $50 for each registered participant or editorial group.
Award: three prizes of $1,000 and six prizes of $500, Tiffany jewelry.

Submissions are accepted in 40 categories, including “U.S. Presidential 2016”, “Impact 2016 – Islamic State Conflict” and “Olympics Feature.” One participant can submit up to 15 photographs taken in the year 2016.

daysjapan

Deadline: January 15, 2017.
No entry fee.
Award: $9,000, $3,000 and $1,000 for three winners, photo equipment.

Documentary photography project organized by Days Japan magazine. The focus of this year’s contest is on photographs asserting the dignity of human beings and nature being trampled upon. One entry may consist of up to 15 images.
