5 Resources That Inspire Designer Mac Funamizu

An online-magazine about creative industries, a blog from designer Tina Roth Eisenberg, the relaxing ocean and other resources that inspire Mac Funamizu.

In the section “Resources” those in creative professions talk about websites that they often visit in search of new ideas. In today’s issue — the selections of designer Mac Funamizu.

Mac Funamizu

The creative director for the service Any+Times, Inc. He worked for ten years as an English teacher and decided to become a designer in 2005. His favorite book is, “Creative Thinkering: Putting Your Imagination to Work” by Michael Michalko. He is inspired by the work of Jonathan Ive, Don Norman and Toshiyuki Inoko.

Recently, I’ve become more interested in the creative industries. I gradually transitioned from the sphere of visual design to work as a creative designer or director. My main instrument is my brain, not my hands. Fast Company is an excellent resource for all those who are interested in innovation, personal development and design. It inspires me most than all the others.

Swissmiss is the blog of designer Tina Roth Eisenberg, who selects interesting themes that apply not only to design. I often get back to this blog to think of new ideas by combining different subjects and ideas, or “conceptual blending.”

I like absolutely everything on the Tiffany site: its typography, the use of color, the quality of the photographs, and the detail of design elements. When I have a creative crisis and my productivity declines, I go on that site and get inspired.

Toshiyuki Inoko, the head of the Japanese company Team Lab, is a famous inventor. I respect him as an innovator and constantly go on the Team Lab blog to draw new ideas for my own projects. This resource is interesting for designers and directors.

This is a simple site with relaxing melodies and vignettes. I love the ocean, even on a computer screen. I often visit Calm to relax and get concentrated.
