Kodak Presents a Smartphone with a 21 Mpx Camera

The device will go on sale by the end of 2016.

Kodak presented Ektra smartphone, named after a camera released back in 1941, The Verge writes. The new device has a 5-inch 1080p touch screen, 32Gb built-in memory, and a 21 Mpx camera with f/2.0 diaphragm.

The creators say that despite the smartphone being clearly cut for photography, they are not trying to compete with the leaders of mobile cameras — iPhone 7 or Google Pixel. Instead, the company tries to focus on the simplicity and design of the new device.

The back panel of the smartphone is done in faux leather — a feature typical for classic Kodak cameras. In addition, Ektra is sold together with various photographic accessories such as a case made of genuine leather.

It is expected that the new smartphone will go on sale by the end of the year at about $550.
