Obama Requests Police Body Cameras

In response to Ferguson the US president has suggested that police increase use of body cameras.

After the unrest in Ferguson, Barack Obama has requested funding to equip the US police force with the body cameras. According to the president it will rebuild trust of the police, says Resource Magazine.

The President has suggested a three-year plan which would provide a total of 50,000 body cameras. Obama stated that if the death of Michael Brown had been recorded, it would have been possible to avoid the conflict.

A similar experiment is being conducted in Canada. From September 2014, one hundred Toronto police officers are testing body-worn cameras.
