Galicia of the 1920s in the Photographs of an Unknown Photographer

German collector Wolfgang Wiggers published a selection of antique black-and-white photographs of people from Galicia on his Flickr page; he says the photographs were taken in the 1920s in the town of Rohatyn and in Koniushky village that are currently a part of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.

Wiggers says that he doesn’t know who took the photographs that he posted, but some of them are captioned in German. For instance, one of the photographs depicting a Rusyn (Ruthenian) woman says: “I like her melancholic expression, she has something majestic.”
