October Photo Contests
At the beginning of each month Bird In Flight updates you about photo contests for both professional photographers and photography lovers.
Deadline: October 12, 2017.
Entry fee: £25.
Award: £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 for three winners.
Grant program for female photographers. To participate one has to send a selected photo project (up to 20 images) and its description. Winners will be announced by the end of November 2017.
Deadline: October 15, 2017.
Entry fee: $20-25 for amateurs, $25-30 for the professionals.
Award: $3,000 for the winner among professionals and $2,000 for the winners among amateurs.
Fine art photography contest. Both single images and photo series are eligible, entries are accepted in 20 categories.

A contest for professional photographers, photo assistants and students studying photography. To participate one has to send a CV and 10 images that correspond with this year’s theme: “Re-enchanting the corporate world.”

Amateur Photographer magazine’s contest invites aspiring photographers and students studying photography. The contest runs for the whole year, this month’s theme is “Land Lovers.” Winners will be announced on November 29.
Deadline: October 31, 2017.
No entry fee.
Award: the main prize of $120,000, while the prize fund is $423,000.
This open contest organized by Sheik of the United Arab Emirates Hamdan Al Maktoum accepts entries in four categories — “Moment” (this year’s theme), “General”, “Timelapse”, and “Portfolio.” Only one image can be submitted in each category, with the exception of “Portfolio” – this category accepts submissions that consist of five to ten photographs.
Deadline: November 13, 2017.
Entry fee: $10 for the Silver Eye members, $60 for the others.
Award: a personal exhibition, $3,000 and $1,000 for two winners.
A contest organized by Silver Eye photography center. To participate one has to send a CV or short bio, a photo project (up to ten images), and an artistic statement. The Assistant Curator at the MoMA Lucy Gallun will choose the winner.

Award: €6,000 for the implementation of the submitted project.
Documentary photography contest dedicated to humanitarian actions, human rights issues, armed conflicts, natural disasters, or refugees’ problems. In order to participate one has to submit ten never-before-published photos.
Deadline: December 12, 2017.
Entry fee: £49 for one photo series, £59 for two.
Award: three-week personal exhibition in London, £5,000 for the production of the photographs, publication in British Journal of Photography.
Photo contest organized by the British Journal of Photography publication. Among the judges – Global Business Development Manager at Magnum Photos Fiona Rogers, Founding Director of Photo London Fariba Farshad, Editorial Director at the British Journal of Photography Simon Bainbridge and others.
