Day After Day: Instagrams from Different Countries and Continents
The Everyday movement started in the beginning of 2012 with a blog about Africa that was launched by documentary photographer Peter DiCampro and writer Austin Merrill. They wanted to break the stereotypes of dire poverty and incessant warfare that the media continue to attach to the African continent. Having enlisted the support of other photographers, DiCampro and Merrill created their account on Instagram. Since then, people from other countries decided to create their own blogs about other countries, continents and parts of the world: the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Iran, Russia, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Jamaica.
Later on, DiCampro brought together photos from different Everyday blogs for an exhibition at the Photoville festival in New York. There are tons of these kinds of projects now. Bird In Flight chose six of the most interesting ones.
