December Photo Contests
ArteArt Prize
Deadline: December 12, 2015.
Award: Six prizes €7,000 each, participation in the exhibition in Venice.
Entry fee: €50 for one image, €90 for two, and €45 for each additional photo. For the participants under 25 — €45, €80 and €45 respectively.
Italian contest of modern art. To participate in the Photography category one needs to upload a bio, up to three photographs and a description of them.
Working Artist
Deadline: December 17, 2015.
Award: $1,000.
Entry fee: $25.
Monthly contests for photographers and photo artists, organized by Working Artist community. Participants must send five pieces of work (or the link to the website) to photographyaward@workingartist.org. There are no limitations regarding the style or technique used, and digital processing (including glitch) is allowed.
Exposure Awards 2015
Deadline: December 21, 2015.
Award: $15,000 for six winners, participation in the exhibition in London for 25 finalists, publication in the contest photobook.
Entry fee: $20 for one image, $45 — for three or four images, $60 for the series up to ten images.
International contest organized by LensCulture online magazine. Works are being accepted in 17 categories. Among the jury members — Senior Editor of Aperture Denise Wolff, photography director of The Guardian Roger Tooth and Radius Books publisher David Chickey.
Ph21 Gallery Body 2016
Deadline: December 21, 2015.
Award: participation in the Ph21 Gallery’s exhibition in Budapest.
Entry fee: €8–35 depending on the number of images and one’s status.
The theme of the Ph21 Gallery’s exhibition is the human body and our relations with it. Maximum number of images that can be submitted is 15, the winner will be chosen by the philosopher of art Zsolt Bátori. The exhibition will start on January 21, 2016 and will end on February 9.
Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum International Photo Award
Deadline: December 31, 2015.
Award: Grand prize — $120,000, the prize fund for 22 finalists is $280,000.
No entry fee.
In the open contest organized by Sheik of the United Arab Emirates Hamdan Al Maktoum, the works are accepted in four categories — “Happiness”, “Wildlife”, “Father and Son” and “General.” Only one photo per category can be submitted.
Moscow International Photo Awards
Deadline: January 1, 2016.
Award: $3,000 for the winner in the professional category, $1,000 for the winner of the “New Talent” prize and $500 for the best short video.
Entry fee: $10–30.
Open photo contest for professional and emerging photographers. Works can be submitted in nine categories, among which are “Architecture”, “Books” and “People”.
Sony World Photography Awards 2016
Deadline: January 12, 2016.
Award: $25,000 for the grand prize winner, a trip to London for the ceremony and the exhibition for category winners.
No entry fee.
This year the contest organized by the Sony and World Photography Organization is divided into two categories: Documentary and Art, each divided into seven subcategories. The submitted projects must consist of 3-10 photographs that have been completed in 2015. Participants must be over 18.
Red Color Trilogy Photography Competition
Deadline: January 15, 2016.
Award: $1,000 for the grand prize winner, $500 for each of the five category winners.
Entry fee: $25 for one image, $30 for the photo series.
The contest is organized in tribute of Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski and his “Three Colors” trilogy. The theme of this year is the color red — all of the images that include or reference red are accepted.
Freelens Award & Lumix Mutimedia Award
Deadline: January 31, 2016.
Award: €10,000 for the Freelens Award winner and €5,000 for the Lumix Multimedia Award winner.
No entry fee.
Contest for young photojournalists and students studying photography. To participate one needs to submit 15-30 photographs (Freelens Award) or a documentary video (Lumix Multimedia Award). Participants must be under 35 years old.
