American is looking to identify places in his grandfather’s photos

American Dave Tomkins posted online photos taken by his Grandpa many years ago and asked people to help him learn more about the places in the snapshots. After Grandpa was relocated into an assisted living facility, Tomkins stumbled across a box of mysterious slides from his business trips and family functions over the years.

His grandfather Stephen Clarke used to work as a jewelry buyer for Prouds Jewellers and had to travel a lot. He was an avid photographer and always carried his trusty Voigtländer Bessamatic on his trips. The photos he had taken were good.

However, due to his age, Stephen had difficulty recalling all the escapades he’d had with his camera. To help him piece together bits of his stories, Dave built a website Grandpa’s Photos and asked visitors to submit clues for the locations in the pictures. People gladly responded and now only 10 out of 50 images remain “unidentified”.
