Malaysian Photographer Traveled Around Fukushima Exclusion Zone

Bangkok-based Malaysian photographer Keow Wee Loong posted on his Facebook a series of photographs capturing his trip to Fukushima, where a nuclear power plant accident took place after the biggest earthquake in history of Japan five years ago.

“Before I went there the authority [sic] told me that I need a special permit to visit this town and it takes 3-4 weeks to get the approval from the local council… Well too much bureaucracy bullsh*t for me…” the photographer said. “So I just sneak in the forest to avoid cops on the road…”

Mashable writes that Loong went on a trip with his wife, Marta Sibielak, who took many of the photographs he posted.

Among other things, the photographer has noted that unlike Chornobyl in Ukraine, Fukushima was almost intact: he would often come across money, gold, notebooks, and other valuables.

“Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be the only person walking in the town when you have 100% full access to every shop? When I was young, I always had a dream like this — to be alone in the supermarket and eat all the chocolate up.
