New York City Hosts Body Art March
On July 18th, New York City hosted the second annual Bodypainting Day, writes The Village Voice. About one hundred nude models and 75 artists participated in the festival. The topic “What the World Needs Now…” was chosen for the event by the organizers. When all the paintings were completed, the participants marched about half kilometer from Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to the United Nations Building. A poster that read “All Bodies are Works of Art” led the procession.
The event was initiated by Andy Golub who has been involved in body painting for long time. Due to his efforts, in 2012, NYC acknowledged that public nudity is legal if it’s part of an artistic expression.
