NY Times Magazine Co-Creates Activist Art
Magazine and street artists JR created a project devoted to loneliness of the migrants.
New York Times Magazine paired with street art collective, JR Artist, created a piece about immigration in the center of Times Square. The piece appeared on the cover of The New York Times Magazine Sunday edition.
Thousands of New Yorkers have walked through the square without noticing the 50m picture. It shows a real man – 20-year-old Elmar – who recently came to the USA from Azerbaijan. The work addresses issues facing immigrants in the US.
